Inclement Weather ... or, Inconvenient Weather?

So, I was supposed to weigh in last night. I was supposed to find out if I'd hit and maybe even surpassed the 10 lb mark. So, did I get to weigh in? No, no I did not! Instead, I got to drive home in sleet, snow and freezing rain. Lynchburg, the town that never gets snow, has gotten a crazy amount of snow in the last 2 months and we got hit again last night. Not only that but we are expecting even more snow this weekend. So, I did not and will not get to find out if I hit my 10 lb mark until next week because this week between everything else I have going on and the crazy weather I won't be able to make it.

But the good news is that I didn't let it get me down and I won't. Last snow that had me stuck in my house didn't keep me from working out, it didn't make me eat everything in sight, it didn't make me do anything. Instead, I CHOSE to count my points, eat only when I was hungry and work out. In fact, I worked out for an hour on Saturday. I'm working to get better at this though I still don't work out as much as I'd like. I've been making it a point to try to walk at work on the indoor track, or do one of my MANY work out videos. My favorite videos are ones that have me dancing and having fun so that I don't feel like I'm working out. The ones that make you feel graceful, sexy and beautiful are the best.

Also, I bought a weight set since you hear all the time about the fact that you MUST lift weights so that you continue to burn calories even when you aren't working out. Well, sort of. I was in Target the other day and they had those little miniature medicine balls that have a strap on them for weight lifting, they were on clearance. I bought two of these, one 4 lb ball and one 6 lb ball. That doesn't sound like much but I will tell you that those two weights were the best $10 I have ever spent. They come with a chart so that you can do different work outs for your arms, legs and abs. By the time that you are done, your arms are a little sore.

So, while the weather is inconvenient because I can't go work out in it, or it keeps me from work and the track, I am commited to trying to find a way to keep moving. Shoveling snow counts, cleaning, or anything else that I can find. People, I have literally run in place in my apartment for 30 minutes. I also bought a mini stair stepper so that I can do that while I'm watching TV.

So, just because it's winter and just because you (or I) might be snowed into our houses ... that is no excuse not to try to keep moving, not when there are so many options out there. For goodness sake, if nothing else I can turn on fit TV and do some cardio :-)

So, have some great snow days but remember to keep moving so that in the summer, you are ready for your SHOW days ... that's right ladies, it's never too early to start thinking about bathing suit season.
